     Look out folks we've got a new leader in the 2009 Angler of the Year race!  Team 9 - Jeff Bias and Chuck Holmes came in on Saturday and smoked some giant bass thereby placing them in 1st for the tournament and 1st on the leader board for Anglers of the Year.  However it's important to note that the team was not complete as Chuck Holmes was no where to be found on Saturday.  Thus, Jeff had to go and recruit a ringer for the tournament (namely Chuck's brother Jimmy). 

     This weekend the conditions were right for bass fishing.  The early morning topwater bight was on.  Nearly all teams caught keepers early on a variety of baits including Pop-R's, Frogs, Skitter Pops, and of course the ever popular buzz bait.  As the morning progressed clouds rolled in to keep the sun at bay.  This slight front kept the bight on top going for a solid hour or two longer than normal.  Finally, in the early afternoon the sun came out and the wind arose.  For most, this was the toughest time of the day.

     Congratulations are certainly in order for Eufaula's Champions Jeff Bias and Jimmy Holmes for their 4-fish limit weighing in at 14.23 lbs.  That's a 3.5lb average!!  This team also claimed the Big Bass title with a whopping 6.09lb black bass.  My hat's off to you guys!  That's a great day of fishin.        

     Nearly one pound behind first was Gary Stepp and Mike Dause.  Gary and Mike claimed second place with a limit of 4 weighing 13.26 lbs.  They also attained the 2nd Big Honors for their 5.44lb largemouth.  What a toad!  Third Place was awarded to Devon Bristol and Wayne Copeland for their their 4 fish limit weighing 11.48 lbs.    

Congratulations to all those mentioned above, and to everyone who fished for making this a great tournament with no fish lost.
